The SWISS Airlines will be the first customer to take delivery and operate the Bombardier CSeries aircraft when the CS100 aircraft enters service in the first half of 2016.
SWISS was previously announced as the launch customer for theCSeries after parent Deutsche Lufthansa AG (Lufthansa) signed a firm purchase agreement in 2009 for 30 CS100 for SWISS.
Bombardier also confirmed that the CSeries aircraft will make its world debut at the International Paris Air Show being held at Le Bourget, France and will fly directly to Zürich, Switzerland in June as part of a demonstration organized for SWISS’ local stakeholders.
Bombardier is raising against time to complete the 2400 hour flight test, with around 1500 hour completed. The CSeries family consist the CS100 and the larger CS300 designed for the 100- to 149-seat, single-aisle market.
The flight test fleet consist five CS100 flight test prototypes and a single CS300.
CSeries offer a 15 per cent cash operating cost advantage, a 20 per cent fuel burn advantage, exceptional operational flexibility, widebody comfort and an unmatched environmental and noise footprint. The aircraft is powered by two Pratt and Whitney PW1500G geared turbofan engine.
