A Singapore Airlines Airbus A330-300 jetliner, operating commercial flight SQ836 on May 23, lost power on both engines over south-east of Hong Kong and started to descend.

The flight operating on the Singapore-Shanghai, lost about 13,000 feet before the pilots, managed to restore power on both the Rolls Royce Trent 772 engines.

 The incident occurred three and half hours into the flight in bad weather conditions according to Singapore Airlines.

The brand new aircraft registered 9V-SSF was handed over on 30 March 2015.

Singapore airlines and Singapore Air Accident Investigation Bureau is investigating the incident.

The incident marks the second engine related issue for a Airbus aircraft, after the crash of a four engined A400M turboprop military airlifter on May 9.
