Russian IL-76 refueling Mig-31 interceptors

Air arm of Russian Pacific naval fleet is practicing aerial refueling that extend combat aircraft range for long range missions.

The training involved crews of long-range Tu-142 Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) aircraft and MiG-31 interceptor aircraft practicing aerial refuelling with the IL-78 tanker, with more than 80 connections completed.

The training marks the first time, the modified Tu-142 performing aerial refuelling.

The flights were carried out at the altitude of 4-5 kms at the speed of 500-600 km/h. The distance between the aircraft was several tens of meters.
