The first Flight Test Aircraft (FTA-1) of  MRJ (Mitsubishi Regional Jet) has completed its ferry flight to United States, after two failed attempts.

The first prototype arrived at its flight testing base in Grant County International Airport in Washington 5:44 pm local time on September 28.

The FTA-1 had took off from Nagoya Airfield, Japan at 1:28 pm local time on September 26.

MRJ completed the 8300 km flight with stops at Sapporo’s New Chitose airport, Yelizovo airport in Russia and Ted Stevens Anchorage International airport in Alaska.

Mitsubishi Aircraft plans to carrying out frequent, multiple flight tests in the U. S. to accelerate the development of the MRJ toward type certificate acquisition in 2018.

Mitsubishi Aircraft has setup three engineering bases (Moses Lake Flight Test Center, the MRJ flight test center within Grant County International Airport; Seattle Engineering Center and Mitsubishi Aircraft Headquarters in Japan) to expedite the flight testing process.

The aircraft remained grounded until September 9, to rectify glitches in its air conditioning system that forced two attempts in August to ferry the aircraft to U.S.
