A Boeing 727-200 aircraft operated by Colombian AeroSucre crashed shortly after taking off from the Puerto Carreno's German Olano Airport.

The aircraft was operating a cargo flight to the Colombian capital Bogota. Five of the six onboard crew members died in the fatal crash.

The aircraft barely lifted off after overshooting the 1750 meter long runway, crashing approximately 10 miles from the airport.

Colombian aviation authority AeroCivil said the aircraft crashed three minutes after taking off from the airport at 5:23 pm local time.

Amateur video shows the aircraft struggling to take off and overshooting the runway in nose up position. It took off after hitting the airport fence and shortly after gaining some altitude, stalled to the right and crashed.

The triple engined Boeing 727 with registration HK-4544 was 41 year old and first flew in 1975. It was powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D-15 engines.

The type entered service in 1964 and production ended in 1984. Over 1832 aircraft were built and the accident marks the 119th involving the type.

A previous video posted in October 2016 shows a similar Boeing 727 barely taking off from the runway, indicating the runway length might be inadequate for this type of aircraft to take off safely.

Online data shows the Boeing 727 require at least 2.5 to 3 km for take off.

A wrong flap setting or loss of engine power could be a possible cause of the crash.
