The last KT-1P trainer aircraft was delivered during a ceremony held at Las Palmas Air Base in Lima, on April 7.
Peru signed a $200 million deal with South Korea in 2012 to acquire 20 KAI KT-1 aircraft. The deal included 10 KT-1P trainer aircraft and 10 KA-1P light ground aircraft.
The first four aircraft were produced by KAI and the remaining 16 aircraft were locally assembled jointly by Peruvian state owned SEMAN and KAI.
The local production will also serve as an export hub for the South Korean aircraft to the Middle and South American countries.
The KT-1P will replace the ageing Peruvian Air Force fleet of Embraer EMB-312 turboprop and Aeramacchi MB-339 jet trainer aircraft.
The twin seat KT-1 is a basic pilot training aircraft powered by a single Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-62 turboprop engine rated at 950 hp (708 kW).
With a maximum take off weight of 5,600 lb (2.54 t), the KT-1 has a top speed of 350 kt (648 km/h, 403 mph),
The KA-1P is a armed version of the KT-1 equipped with an advanced cockpit featuring Multi Function Displays and Head-up Display (HUD).
It can be armed with LAU-131 rocket pod with air to ground rockets and a 12.7 mm HMP gun on its four under-wing and a single under fuselage hard points.
The KA-1P is intended to carry out counter insurgency operations.
